Explore The Art Of Business
By John Cosgrove
It's hard to believe that it's time to convene in San Diego for our Annual Convention. I can tell you that MHEDA President-Elect and Convention Host Jack Phelan has been working hard with Liz Richards and the MHEDA staff to bring you a power-packed program in San Diego.
Please join us as we host our opening night party on the decks of the USS Midway. The USS Midway was commissioned on September 10, 1945, and served our country for 47 years. More than 200,000 American veterans served aboard the Midway, which now serves as a maritime museum and the site of MHEDA's 2007 Opening Party on Sunday, April 29. I'm sure that MHEDA will make those who served on the Midway proud, as we honor them and their ship during our opening night party.
The MHEDA Board works extremely hard to guarantee top programs for our members. I would like to thank all the Board members past and present for their service to the industry.

The theme for MHEDA's 2007 Convention, The Art of Business, is designed to inspire you to create your own business palette for better sales, margins, marketing, customer service, employee relations, generational understanding, leadership and much more.
In addition to the learning that takes place at Convention, there are a number of networking opportunities to engage in over the four days in San Diego. The favorite among distributors and manufacturers is the Exhibitors' Showcase, featuring 90 tabletop exhibits highlighting the best products and services in the material handling industry. Back by popular demand is the Showcase Happy Hour, opening the doors once again for refreshments, prizes and more networking.
Speaking of networking, our MHEDA-NET program continues to grow and flourish. We are now up to 18 groups with 130 participants. I know that many of our groups plan to meet while in San Diego at the Convention and continue to share information that is valuable to us all. If you're not a member of a MHEDA-NET group and would like to join one or get more information, please contact the MHEDA office at 847-680-3500.
MHEDA is also proud of our educational offerings for 2007. We started the year by hosting the ever-popular Objective Based Selling seminar, presented by former MHEDA President Gary Moore during the ProMat show in Chicago. The program once again received rave reviews from all the participants. Please visit the MHEDA Web site at www.mheda.org to see all of the other educational programs offered by MHEDA.
We continue to make large strides in Education, Networking, Membership and Industry Advocacy, thanks to the efforts of the staff and the MHEDA Board of Directors. The MHEDA Board continues to work at improving MHEDA and its programs. These individuals work extremely hard to guarantee top programs for our members and follow our strategic planning process. We all owe them a debt of gratitude for what they do for our organization. I would like to thank all the Board members past and present for their service to the industry.
I hope you will join us in San Diego as Liz, the staff and the Board create another Convention masterpiece. Together we'll explore The Art of Business. |
